PAIMAN's Profile

PAIMAN is registered with the Joint Registrar of Islamabad Capital Territory as a Trust Fund under the Trust Act of 1882

PAIMAN- an Urdu word meaning Promise, is Pro-active in functioning, pro-people in thinking, result oriented in projects and participatory in training methods. PAIMAN's promise revolves around linking people and communities to opportunities by realizing their potentials and widening their horizons.

PAIMAN is a non for profit organization that strives for the socio-political and economic empowerment of marginalized groups particularly women.

PAIMAN's multi-faceted services encompass advocacy; training programmes tailored to targeted requirements for human resource development; research services to governmental or international agencies; serving as a resource centre for dissemination of updated information in relevant areas through updated databases and policy briefs; and holding of workshops, as well as serving as a platform for civic action for positive change through community mobilization and advocacy.

WHAT WE DO?

• PAIMAN Political Empowerment programme (PEP)
is committed to political empowerment of communities: an initiative to educate men and women in the art of politics and leadership through meaningful advocacy campaigns, seminars and capacity development workshops

PAIMAN as a part of its political/civic education program conducts on regular basis series of capacity building trainings of women political leaders, political activists, potential leaders across Pakistan in Gender Budgeting, Human Rights, Gender Justice, Gender Mainstreaming, Monitoring Committees, Gender Responsive Governance, Legislative agenda setting, constituency servicing, networking, advocacy and democratization etc.

Seminars on the importance of women's participation in politics, credible & transparent electoral process, women's role in transforming the political process, political agenda and political institutions, women leadership development and democracy & governance are organized from time to time.

PAIMAN being a member of Free & Fair Election Network (FAFEN) PAIMAN observed elections 2008 in 45 National Assembly constituencies out of 265 in the three provinces. It deployed some 3000 observers in these constituencies to observe the elections.

• PAIMAN Economic Empowerment Network (PEEN) is aimed at providing sustainable livelihood to poverty-ridden households through capacity building and micro-enterprise support. PEEN provides skills and capacity building opportunities to help marginalized women and men in generating a regular income in some of the poorest regions of Pakistan.

Hidden Hands is an initiative of PEEN, which patronizes marginalized women artisans according to principles of "fair trade" with an aim to preserve and revive the extinct heritage and traditional crafts of Pakistani culture through exquisite products of timeless beauty

• PAIMAN Education Endorsement Programme (PEEP) is determined to reach out to those who are 'Hard to Reach' in order to cater the needs of quality education through research and participatory trainings.

RESEARCH STUDIES

PAIMAN has conducted research studies and surveys encompassing women political participation, socio-economic profiles of elected women representatives, good governance, gender mainstreaming in policies and programs, child rights & Child health specific issues and problems, education related issues and has developed reports on the same for national & international organizations & institutes.

• Design and development of projects & establishing the relevant databases
• Developing evaluation reports, project based investigation reports, policy briefs & survey designs
• Analyzing international & regional developments dealing with issues of religion, politics, security, economics, international cooperation and globalization.
