June 15, 2007: College of
Computing and Applied Software Engineering (CCASE), under the aegis of
Rai Foundation, launched 3-months Database Administration (DB2) Program
with IT giant IBM at their Faridabad Campus. The DB2 program will equip
students with skills that help them successfully enter the job market
after graduation. During the launch of the program, three-member
delegation, headed by Country Lead Education, Software Services
Group, IBM, Ms Rashmi Bhargava, from IBM was present.
Executive Director-Rai Foundation, Ms Nymph Kaul said, Today is a
very momentous day at Rai Foundation. As the IT major IBM has chosen Rai
Foundation, the largest network of professional colleges, to launch
their DB2 program. This collaboration is a perfect example of
Industry-Academia interface. Ms Bhargava informed about the Career
Education in IBM Software (CEIS) initiative. She said, Rai
Foundation is the first authorized CEIS study center in north India.
She also informed about the large demand of DB2 professionals and
national and international career opportunities for these professionals.
Under the initiative, IBM has trained CCASE faculty to use IBM's latest
software tools, which they would impart to the students. The program
will enable young graduates with IT-orientation to have a hands-on
experience in IBM software products DB2, WebSphere Rational
software testing tools and Tivoli. The mentors from IBM along with the
faculty will closely monitor the work of the students. After the
successful completion of the program the students will get Certified
CEIS Professional Certificate.
The Information technology sector, in particular, is witnessing rapid
changes and as a result the demand of skills in budding professionals is
also fast changing. The industry is facing major crunch in terms of
highly skilled professionals. This kind of partnership with industry
leaders, such as IBM, helps in bridging the gaping demand and supply gap
of professionals.
