"It's a changing world and
it's changing by every minute," that's how Mr. Jeff Gralnick put
the new age media and Internet revolution sweeping the media world
during "How to Become Me" lecture series inaugural lecture.

Jeff spoke at College of Media & Communication (CMAC), a part of Rai
Foundation Colleges on October 9, 2006. Chief Guest Mr. Saeed Naqvi also
gave insights of his illustrious career to the CMAC students. The
program began with the welcome note by Ms. Nymph Kaul, Director Rai
Foundation Colleges.
Chief guest Mr. Naqvi informed the students that how he accidentally
entered media and than went on to become a doyen in the media world. He
shared his experiences regarding the modest beginnings and subsequent
journey to become the most illustrious international affairs journalists
of the country. He stressed on need of credibility and human face of
journalism. He said present day journalism is of speed where balance is
even more important.
The series' principal speaker Jeff started his career on news desk at
CBS News, as copy person for television news than he became broadcaster
and now he overseeing Internet revolution changing the way we live. The
guiding words and philosophy of his career are Change Happens Be Ready.
He said that technology has changed the way we broadcast news. A viewer
has various sources of information and that has made the job of
journalists more challenging. The new concepts emerging from new
technology - Citizen Journalists, Blogs, News & Television on mobile
phone - will empower the user like never before. The world is witnessing
creation of a new blog, every sixth second. He said nobody knows what it
would be like down the line two years, as the changes are coming faster
than ever.
He further said that there is no space for journalists to fear. Their
responsibility is to inform people in a fair, balance and unbiased
manner. With new media and Internet it's more challenging to remain
balanced. He said, "As a media person you've just few seconds to
decide because it's there live before you may even know." The new
media is all about excitement so one should remain excited about the
latest and the changes occurring every now and then.
The students were ecstatic to have two stalwarts among them. Rajiv
Ratan CMAC student said, "My dream came true when I met two such
iconic figures in one day." The Dean of CMAC Ms. Kakul Rizvi
thanked Mr. Naqvi and Jeff for taking time out from their busy schedules
to share their gem of ideas about latest and best practices of the media
world.
