Rethinking Management
Education a seminar conducted by Rai Business School, Chennai, had
the doyen of Indian Bureaucracy Mr. TN Seshan, Former Chief Election
Commissioner of India, speaking to an enthralled audience at The
Residency Towers, Chennai.
Mr. Seshan spellbound the entire audience with his keynote address Creativity
in Management Education. By creativity Mr. Seshan meant creativity
in the economic sphere of human existence, leading to a phase where one
thinks and acts beyond definitions and phrases.
Remembering his experience as a former bureaucrat, where he used his
management tools extensively, Mr. Seshan said that innovative thinking
and creativity is the basic survival alternative left with any manager
in todays global era. Give a standing ovation to management
institutes especially to Rai Business School he expressed satisfaction
in the dual-specialization programs offered, which equip the manager to
think beyond the ordinary. He urged new-age managers to perform
out-of-the-box, giving a more than 100% input towards the organization.
He urged managers to create certainty in an area of uncertainty, showing
management acumen and out-of-the-shell attitude in a manager.
Mr. Vinay Rai, Chairman of Rai Foundation while addressing his topic Excellent
Management Education showed concern that despite a booming economy
that can provide jobs for all; companies are scrambling to find the
right employees, implying that something is fundamentally wrong. This is
where new innovation and creativity is required and with B-schools such
as Rai Business School providing innovative education to new-age
managers, this will be the age where Graduates and Business Graduates
will have a choice in the market, provided they have the instinct to
out-shine the ordinary.
Also adorning the podium were Prof. Dr. C R Muthukrishnan - Former Dy.
Director and Director-in-charge IIT Madras, who talked extensively on Macro
perspectives on Management Education. Prof. Rangarajan - Visiting
Faculty RBS Chennai, Former Director ICFAI Business School enlightened
the audience and also the speakers with his experience in Managing
B Schools and B School ratings. Mr. T Jaykumar - Vice President
Operations, Lason India Ltd while speaking on Industry Academic
Expectations, said that the biggest challenge to growth was not
infrastructure or poor governance but scarcity of talent, hence we
desperately need to fix our education system and B-Schools such as Rai
Business School are a sigh of relief to overcome the shortage of skills
and talent.
