Jubilant Students comment on their participation in the 2nd Model UN Conference
The World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA), in consonance with the Indian Federation of United Nations Associations (IFUNA), had short listed Rai Foundation for the 2nd WFUNA Asia Pacific Regional Model UN Conference from 10-12 February 2006 in New Delhi, India.
Students of Rai Foundation were required to enact the role of Indonesia, where their main assignment was to pose and interplay the role of the Indonesian Government and engage in debates and negotiations on major questions on the UN agenda.
This gave the students valuable understanding of Foreign Diplomacy and UN Charters apart from interacting with students from various other countries who were also participating for the same purpose. They also learned how to influence the outcome of negotiations by means of coalition building, caucusing and the creative search for compromise or consensus on behalf of a particular country.
The students had the following comments

The recently held Model UN conference from Feb. 10-12 by WFUNA was a great opportunity to exchange ideas and meet delegates from across the Asia Pacific. The three-day conference gave us valuable inputs regarding International Diplomacy and the United Nations.
With an opportunity to participate and debate on various topics and committees like the Plenary Committee and debate on issues like Managing Globalization, Poverty reduction, and Emerging social issues, helped in understanding the problem areas in the world.
The debates were followed by the formation of the draft resolution in which each clause was put to discussion and finally amendments were made and passed by the various delegates.
I made a lot of new friends and shared their views and culture .It was a great experience and I hope I can attend many more such conferences in future.

From Feb. 10-12, I on behalf of Rai Foundation attended the Model UN conference organized by WFUNA.
It was a great opportunity and I am fortunate to be a part of the delegation from Rai Foundation.
At the Model UN conference we were supposed to interplay the Indonesian Government and pass a resolution on the discussed topics. There were a plethora of discussions and issues which we dealt with, the major ones being - Managing Globalization, Poverty reduction, and emerging social issues etc.
I am fortunate to be a part of the delegation that gave me an idea of the working of the United Nations with other fellow countries and the kind of terse decisions that Governments have to make for over-all development.

I was amongst the fortunate people from various countries and backgrounds who participated in the 2nd Model UN-Conference hosted by IFUNA.
This conference gave me the opportunity to become engaged in issues on the UN agenda like Human Security, Poverty, and Globalization etc.
It was a wonderful experience, which gave me the insight into the various social issues faced in Asia-Pacific region and what steps we can probably take to eliminate them and make our region a better place to live in.

Participating in the 2nd Model UN-Conference hosted by IFUNA was a great experience. The conference gave me an opportunity to first of all know what United Nations is and how other countries participate in various UN conferences and make and influence decisions towards diplomatically important issues throughout the world.
The various topics and debates were on issues like Managing Globalization, Poverty reduction, and Emerging social issues and the mere preparation helped in understanding the problems which many counties face throughout the world.
I hope to be a part of another such meet of global importance and I thank Rai Foundation for their valuable support in treading us towards such activities.
